Counselling and Psychotherapy can focus on life in general rather than on any specific issue. In my practice I have many clients who come for therapy without any particular problem in mind, but who feel there is something not quite right, or something missing, or something indefinable getting in the way of their well-being and happiness. This type of therapy, which is focused on seeking clarification on things as and when they arise, is most often left 'open-ended' in terms of the number of sessions. It is a space and place to be heard and to reflect, and is centred on the big questions of life:
- Who am I?
- What does it mean to be alive?
- What is the purpose of my life?
- What are my values?
- What am I able to achieve?
- Why am I suffering?
- What is wrong with me?
- How can I be a better human being?
- How do I surmount my troubles?
